Halloween Decor

Halloween is probably my favorite holiday, so I decided that I should probably get a little more festive this year.  I usually don't decorate for holidays, other than Christmas, but I'm finding myself loving Halloween more and more each year, so I wanted to do something more this time.  I found all of my Halloween items at Dollar Tree...and with a little spray paint, I was able to change them into looking not so cheapo!  I love my spray paint:)
This is what I started with from my trusty dollar store:)
I started with the mantle, and also added the fun banner from Target (it comes in a kit for us non-crafter types:)

While I was at the store, I noticed they were starting to get their Christmas stuff out, and saw some cheapie wreaths...so I grabbed 2, layered them on top of each other, and sprayed them black...

Then I placed this little crow guy inside the wreath...

I didn't do a lot, but for around $8, I think it made a big impact!  Don't underestimate shopping at any type of store for decor...again, you don't have to spend a lot of money to make changes within your home.  Happy Halloween decorating to you all!!

DIY Dot Art

If you follow me on Instagram, you have already seen these diy pics I posted, but if you don't (then do! @melissareys:), I made some fun wall art pieces thanks to a tutorial by Danielle Oakey.  They were so easy to do, mostly using things everyone has laying around their house.  The fun part for me was painting the mat on the picture.  I don't know why I haven't thought about that before, but the choices are endless really, and it makes such a different statement than a plain white one.
Here is the original tutorial I followed.   And here are how mine turned out:

(um, how embarrassing are those dirty mirrors?? Oops...!)

Super fun and easy, right?!  I'm pretty sure this could be used for any room in the house!  Love a fast, cheap diy!

Leather 3 Ways

Leather is a huge trend for this fall and winter.  I have seen leather in pants, shirts, skirts, jackets and leggings.  I think it can be intimidating for some to wear, but it really is a fun trend to play with!  I found some faux leather leggings at TJ for $8, and fell in love!  You can really dress leather up, or go really casual.  I picked 3 different ways you can wear these to show their versatility!

Top: TJ, Shoes: Kohls (old), Sweater: Target (old)

Jacket: Target (old), Shoes: Target

Top: Old Navy, Shoes: Nine West

So what do you think?  Would you try the leather trend??

Older Girl Room

I've been itching to do a project around here lately, so I decided that its probably time to update my girly's bedroom to an "older" girl room.  We updated her room almost 6 years ago, when we moved her out of her crib.  Its been great and she loved it, but she is now getting out of the pink stage, so its time for a new color.

I still love her wallpaper, so we will be keeping that...I think I am going to paint the walls a light mint color, and go with a mint, black, white, gold & pink palette.

I am thinking of painting her dresser and nightstand white...

And maybe this vanity a light pink color...I still can't decide yet.  Any ideas??

I want to spray her letters gold...
Here is the moodboard I created for her "older" girl room:
I'm excited...now my challenge is getting the hubs on board too!  Hopefully the painting will be starting very soon...I'll keep you all posted!!

Trays and Trinkets

I was doing a deep clean in my house the other day, and as I was cleaning each room, I realized that I might have a small obsession with trays.  I might have them all over the place...and they might all have some kind of animal on them!  The point is, I love trays because they are pretty and hold clusters of pretty things...no, but seriously, they are the perfect item to neatly display things in any place of the house.  For example:

I think I'm good in the tray department, no?!  You can find cute, affordable trays anywhere now, so here are a few of my favorites!

Reader Thoughts...

I received an email a couple days ago from a reader who had the following to say..."I don't know any fashion bloggers out there who admit that they shop at Ross!"  Now, I don't know if that was a dis or a compliment:)  I am in no way embarrassed about the fact that I shop at Ross, or any discount store for that matter.  I know there are so many people out there who cannot afford to shop at Nordstrom everyday (myself included), so I love to be able to show my readers that you can have stylish, trendy fashion at affordable prices.  To me, it doesn't matter where it comes from...if I like it, and it is inexpensive, then it works!  Anyway, I have another look today (from Ross!) and I hope you all appreciate it.  I love hearing feedback from readers, and honestly don't take offense to any comment...I realize I am putting myself out here, so I am prepared for whatever comes my way!  Thanks for reading and happy soon-to-be weekend!!

Try the Trend: Palazzo Pants

Palazzo pants are making a statement lately, and I have noticed that people either love them or just hate them!  They kind of remind me of pajama pants because they are super comfy and forgiving, just like pajamas!  Can't beat that in my mind! So what do you think about palazzo pants??

Everything from Target...shoes: Ross

Here are some other palazzo's I'm loving...Happy Wednesday!!
